The first type of windshield break is called a star break.
A star break is a rock chip with multiple legs extending from the impact point. These repairs are very difficult to fix. Getting resin to flow to all ends of the break requires a very high viscosity resin and usually a windshield repair kit, which can pull a vacuum. You can expect to still see the break after the repair is completed. When repaired properly the star break will not spread any farther.

The second type of rock chip is called a bull's-eye break.
A bull's-eye break is a rock chip, which looks like a circle. These are very easily repaired and can be fixed with no drilling or vacuum. These types of breaks usually always disappear and hardly ever spread once the repair is completed and cured.

The third type of windshield break is a combination break.
The combination break is exactly what it says it is, a combination. It is a combination of a bull's-eye and a star break. These are very hard to repair because of the damage to the glass. Proper technique, resin and windshield repair kit can make the appearance of these diminish but the hardly ever go away. Glass is usually chewed up and a large chunk of glass is usually missing. Talk to the technician about the break before deciding to repair or replace the windshield.

The fourth type of stone chip is called a half moon break.
The half moon break is similar to the bull's-eye break except it does not make a complete circle.

At Modern Collision Rebuild and Service, we utilize several different types of welding systems to perform our custom welding repairs. For example, we have a Hirane spot welder and several Miller M.I.G Welders in our facility that allow us to do repairs quickly, efficiently and mimic factory construction methods. We also offer welding services for other projects that may require a professional touch.

When you drop off your vehicle for repairs our shuttle driver will give you a ride home to the ferry or work and when the vehicle is done we will have our driver pick you up.

We have almost 20 vehicles available for rent to our valued customers & for you or your out-of-town guests. All of our rental cars are 4-doors & automatics & the range from 4 door sedans, station wagon, van & a small flatbed pickup. We have 3 different rates depending on your needs. All we require is that you have a valid drivers license, current full coverage insurance & a major credit card.

While your vehicle is in the shop for repairs we will discount the cost of a rental car to $20.00 per day.
