Getting ready for fall weather

Getting ready for fall weather

Well, the weather sure has changed and I personally am glad to have some rain after the long hot summer we had. Are you ready for driving in the rain and dark evenings? Is your car ready for it?

This is a good time to make sure your tires are adequate for the long rainy season. Just because they hold air doesn’t mean they will help keep you in control in a rainstorm. This time of year, it is important to have a good amount of tread on your tires, so when you are driving in the rain you are able to stay in control. This time of year, we recommend that if any tire is even getting somewhat close to the minimum tread depth requirements, it gets replaced. Losing control of your vehicle in the rain and risking your safety along with others is not worth the cost of a new set of tires. Don’t forget to check your spare tire, jack and lug wrench.  You want it to be ready in case you need it.

Lighting is so important this time of year. There is nothing worse than not being able to see what is in front of you on a dark night even when it is not raining. How about that vehicle coming at you with their lights seemingly pointed right at you? Do your headlights seem to be looking for the monkeys in the trees? Making sure your lights are aimed correctly will help you and others on the road. Headlight lenses can become hazy and yellowed over time and it will drastically reduce the amount of light that is able to light up the road in front of you. There is a restoration process that can be performed to maximize the amount of light that your headlights can produce.  If your lights seem dim, ask us how we can brighten your night.

Wipers are just as important as good tires and proper lighting. What good are your tires or bright lights if you can't see through the windshield. Wipers are cheap and having wipers that actually wipe and not smear can sure make a difference. Just as important as wipers, is making sure your windshield squirter system works and is filled with the proper fluid. Ever drive on a light misty day and your windshield gets covered with a dirty film because of the vehicle in front of you... then you go to use your wipers and now it looks like a Picasso painting, only to try your squirters to find out you’re out of fluid... then panic sets in while you scramble to turn your wipers on high, only to change the picture on your windshield?

Make sure you are ready and prepared. If you have questions or need some work done, give us a call so we can help you out.
